A Short-Term Temporary Position

Under the direction and supervision of the Human Resources Director, Recruitment & Employee Services, assists with administering the District’s Workers Compensation and Workplace Safety Programs, including case management and liaising with injured workers, District insurance agents, and medical facilities.


  • Serves as district liaison for reporting of all work related injuries during normal business hours.
  • Tracks all work related injuries, assisting in preparation of OSHA reports and maintains Cal OSHA log reporting.
  • Maintains confidential medical files.
  • Coordinators ergonomic and workstation evaluations, purchases necessary equipment.
  • Serves as the liaison between the district and medical professionals/facilities as well as our Worker’s Compensation insurance carrier, ensuring quality medical care for employees and timely processing of claims.
  • Assists in administering safety-training program for employees, providing appropriate and timely training across campus.
  • Coordinates employee treatment and tracks leaves for injured employees.
  • Administers new claims processing and on-line claims reporting
  • Coordinates investigations and inspections as necessary, in an effort to reduce fraudulent and/or frivolous claims, when necessary
  • Processes temporary disability checks and all requests for information sent by our Worker’s Compensation insurance carrier.
  • Maintains Workers Compensation Claims Historical Database and Safety Training Database.
  • Maintains detailed records of accidents.
  • Assists in coordinating the payment of temporary disability benefits, the use of savings from TD Benefits to Hire Replacement Employees. Works with managers and fiscal services to ensure coverage during absence.
  • Assists in establishing, arranging and maintaining a formalized safety training program for all employees and supervisors.
  • Establishes and maintains a safety training tracking database for use by supervisors and managers in the evaluation process.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Ability to:

  • Understand, interpret and apply policies, rules and regulations.
  • Assist in providing a service-oriented environment, demonstrating tact and poise in working with the staff and the public on matters of a confidential and sensitive nature.
  • Compose clear and concise correspondence and produce effective reports on a variety of matters independently or with a minimum of instruction.
  • Organize complex processes with great efficiency.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records and databases for reports and for auditing purposes.
  • Provide appropriate information to the staff in a friendly, professional manner.
  • Work effectively and demonstrate currency of knowledge with computers and other forms of advanced technology utilized in providing high-quality services.
  • Type with speed and accuracy using word processing, spreadsheet and other business-related software. Make accurate mathematical calculations.
  • Demonstrate clear evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, staff and community.

Position requires sitting and viewing a computer monitor for extended periods of time; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a typewriter and computer keyboard; reaching, bending, and stooping; frequently exert 10 to 20 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects; hearing and speaking to communicate and provide information to others; vision to read printed material and computer monitor.

Negotiable – depending on experience
