JOB DESCRIPTION

 

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:

The work involves lecturing students involved in Emergency Medical Training courses. The incumbent, on a part-time basis, is involved in teaching the practical skills in Emergency Medical Training. The work is performed primarily at Erie Community College campuses and in various outdoor sites in Erie County. Does related work as required.

 

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:

  • Demonstrates appropriate knowledge of subject;

  • Demonstrates psychomotor skills and cognitive knowledge of learning materials accurately with expertise in assigned subject(s);

  • Provides as appropriate learning environment for students;

  • Respond to students and provide students with assistance and guidance;

  • Responsible for contributing to and maintaining an inclusive and collaborative College environment;

  • Adheres to all College policies and follow the process as outlined in the Student Code of Conduct;

  • Fulfills all duties as required in the FFECC Collective Bargaining Agreement.; (not all are members of FFECC)

  • Helps students in mastering skills required in the Emergency Medical Training areas

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Candidates must be able to demonstrate awareness and sensitivity towards promoting an inclusive and diverse learning environment. Knowledge of academic discipline; ability to implement a variety of teaching strategies; use of instructional technology where appropriate; ability to teach effectively at the college level; initiative and resourcefulness; industrious and dependability; ability to work in a team and collaborative environment; effective communication skills; experience teaching a diverse student body; physically capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation. Candidates must have outstanding proficiency of EMS cognitive knowledge and psychomotor skills. Candidates must be physically capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Two (2) years emergency medical services field experience and be a currently active member with a NYS EMS agency.

Must have current NYS certification for the appropriate level of employment. NYS certified lab instructors preferred. Additional instructor credentials for American Heart Association CPR, ACLS, PALS, and also International Trauma Life Support are also preferred.
