About Nassau Community College:

Job Description:
Coordinate New Student Orientation. This involves:

Selecting Orientation student leaders
Orienting and training these leaders
Working with returning student leaders to form a peer leadership cohort
Planning and implementing the leader-training days
Responsibility for the Orientation registration (sign-up) system for incoming new students
Responsible for the production of orientation publications
Developing and maintaining a web/internet Orientation and post-Orientation presence
Developing and implementing Orientation surveys
Developing and implementing "extensions" of Orientation – such as a mentoring or leadership program
Innovating new programs to make Orientation more effective
Oversight of Campus Tours
Advise the student newspaper. This involves:

Provide leadership training and consultation to the editorial board and staff as they write, edit, photograph and produce the newspaper
Advise the business and advertising managers of the newspaper in matters related to advertising (selling space, collecting fees, etc.) and budget.
Develop leadership training, journalism training, and group development programs for the newspaper staff.

Requirements:
Master’s Degree in Student Personnel, Counseling, or related field

Ability to work well with all facets of the academic community

Experience in Student Personnel work or a related professional field

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Some evening and weekend coverage required

Additional Information:
Additional duties in Student Activities as assigned. Provide general counseling and academic advisement. Teach one section of SPS 093 per semester. Other duties as assigned.
