At the beginning of each academic year, all professional expert, short-term, substitute, and student employees with an assignment which will exceed 30 days will be provided with five days (40 hours) of paid sick leave. This paid sick leave is available to be used for an illness of the professional expert, short-term, substitute, and student employee or his/her family member and/or for leave due to domestic violence, sexual assault or stalking. A professional expert, short-term, substitute, and student employee shall be entitled to use such sick leave as of the 90thday of employment.
The five days (40 hours) of paid sick leave does not accumulate.
General Description/Summary
POSITION SUMMARY
Under the general direction of the Mental Health Supervisor and/or the Dean of Students, the Mental Health Therapist will provide direct mental health services to Citrus College students. The Mental Health Therapist provides crisis intervention, develops, administers, and promotes mental health and wellness services.
NOTICE: A Professional Expert, as authorized by Education Code 88003, is neither a part of the classified service, the academic employee group, nor a management position. This assignment is temporary and terminable at any time without cause at the sole discretion of the District, and does not lead to a permanent status.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Possession of a master's degree, or higher, from an accredited institution in the field of clinical psychology, counseling psychology, clinical counseling, social work, family-based counseling, marriage and family therapy, or marriage, family and child counseling, or the equivalent.
Be registered as an Associate in the state of California as a Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT), Social Worker (ACSW), Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC), and/or Associate Clinical Psychologist.

Possession of a valid license in the state of California as a Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), and/or Licensed Clinical Psychologist.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide mental health services, including brief individual and group counseling and mental health assessment and referral services to students with a wide-range of mental health needs to support their academic success and retention.
- Provide triage and crisis intervention to students and individuals in need, and act as a resource for college employees.
- Provide crisis intervention, evaluation and referral to community resources, as well as collaborates with community psychiatric evaluation teams, as needed.
- Follow standard protocols for psychological counseling and adhere to ethical principles as stipulated by the Board of Behavioral Sciences and/or American Psychological Association and in accordance with laws and regulations pertaining to behavioral healthcare in the State of California.
- Assess the mental health needs of students and develop and appropriate plan of brief intervention with the students.
- Maintain currency of knowledge and skills related to the duties and responsibilities.
- Educate students, staff and faculty about the maintenance of mental health and wellness.
- Monitor and assist in maintaining the accuracy of print and electronic/online resources used by the Student Health Center and social media platforms.
- Maintain complete mental health treatment records in accordance with FERPA and HIPAA regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the assignment.

- Knowledge of crisis intervention and demonstrated crisis intervention skills and techniques.
- Knowledge of legal and ethical standards of licensed mental health professionals.
- Knowledge of clinical therapy best practices in the treatment of individuals, couples, and groups.
- Understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socioeconomic, ethnic, religious, cultural background, disability, and sexual orientation of community college students, faculty, and staff.
