Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, performs a variety of technical duties in support of Chemistry laboratory instruction; maintains Chemistry teaching lab and stockroom operations; including washing chemistry equipment, cleaning labs, organizing and labeling supplies, maintaining equipment, repairing glassware, and handling chemicals like refilling solutions and solids, mixing solutions, and preparing samples, etc. May prepare chemical solutions, chemical reagents, unknown samples, and equipment for the Chemistry teaching laboratories; Please note that the responsibilities for this position do not involve any teaching duties in the classroom.


EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
a. Assist in the operation of the chemistry stockroom and laboratories, including preparation of solutions, dispensing chemicals and supplies, setting up equipment, and disposing of chemicals and hazardous waste.
b. Organize and restock chemicals, supplies, and equipment in the teaching laboratories.
c. Prepare chemical solutions for use in the laboratories and stockroom.
d. Exercise personal initiative to prioritize and schedule work to ensure that instructional materials are ready when needed and all duties are executed in a timely fashion.
e. Perform assigned tasks independently without immediate supervision.
f. Maintain chemical and equipment inventory, clean and stock glassware and equipment, chemicals, and student instructional areas.
g. Demonstrate proper health and safety procedures and regulations in the laboratories.
h. Work cooperatively with supervisor, faculty, and staff during the course of work.
