Performance Responsibilities: The Vice President of Student Services (VPSS) reports to the President of the College and is responsible for providing leadership in planning, developing, coordinating, evaluating, and enhancing the College’s Student Services programs. The VPSS functions as a Chief Student Services Administrator of the College and works as a team with the President, Vice President of Instruction, and the Vice President of Administrative Services.

1. Provide visionary leadership in developing, enhancing, and implementing a comprehensive array of Student Services that support student success.
2. Direct the core departments of Student Support Services & Programs, Counseling, Admissions and Records, Financial Aid, Associated Student Government, Assessment, Career Center, Transfer Center, Incarcerated Student Support Services, International Student Services, EOP&S/CARE/CalWORKs programs, Veterans Services, Student Discipline/Grievances, and oversee the development and evaluation of policies and procedures for these areas.
3. Coordinate the development, implementation, and evaluation of a complex budget for Student Services programs, including general, categorical and grant funds.
4. Communicate a vision of Student Services programs exemplified by academic excellence, innovation, collaborative management, and shared governance.
5. Evaluate and promote the professional development of all faculty and staff within the Student Services area.
6. Work collaboratively with Instruction and Administrative Services in implementing an integrated enrollment management plan that supports student success.
7. Provide leadership for the development and revision of the Educational Master Plan and the development of both short and long-term goals of Student Services.
8. Oversee implementation of records systems and design of enhanced computer-based, web-based Student Services.
9. Systematically assess student services programs, and practices using Student Learning Outcomes, program review, and other appropriate measures in order to improve the effectiveness of these services.
10. Continually develop and implement new and innovative services and practices to improve responsiveness to student needs, increase student engagement, promote maximum use of Student Services programs and more effectively support student success.
11. Foster a student-centered college environment and collegial operational style that assist students in successful goal attainment.
12. Adjudicate student appeals and grievances within areas of responsibility.
13. Administer the code of conduct, due process, and student discipline.
14. Coordinate outreach and related activities with other colleges, high schools, vendors, students, community agencies, governmental and private agencies, and other outside organizations.
15. Ensure all Student Services departments operate in compliance with Title 5 regulations, the Education Code, and federal statutes.
16. Develop, monitor, and evaluate College’s Student Equity Plan.
17. Function as 504 Compliance and Title IX Officer.
18. Oversee the implementation of collective bargaining agreements within the Student Services area.
19. Participate actively in successful strategies in the area of human relations, institutional problem solving, and external relations.
20. Oversee FTES reporting and other state reporting related to Student Services.
21. Represent Student Services at college, district, regional, statewide, national, and international levels.
22. Serve as liaison between Student Services programs and other college programs, departments, and activities.
23. Member of President’s Cabinet and serves on College and District committees.
24. Perform additional duties as assigned by the President of the college.
