  • Theatre Arts Instructor - Part-Time - Pool

    South Orange County Community College District

    Saddleback College has an immediate need for a Part-Time Theatre Arts Instructor to teach Fundamentals of Design and Graphics for Theatre.


    Information about the course:


    Explores the techniques used to communicate visual ideas in the theatrical and entertainment industry. The use of hand‐drawing, drafting, basic perspective, and supporting computer applications are emphasized. Students will be offered a survey of scenery, lighting, sound, costumes, makeup, properties, theatrical equipment and construction techniques through demonstration, and laboratory experience. Information is applicable to all formal theatrical applications.


     


    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


    1. Must meet one of the following qualifications under (a) through (d):


    (a) Master's degree or higher in drama/theatre arts/performance from an accredited college or university; OR


    (b) Bachelor's degree in drama/theatre arts/performance AND a Master's degree in comparative literature, English, speech, literature, or humanities from an accredited college or university; OR


    (c) Valid California Community College instructor credential appropriate to the subject per Education Code 87355 (issued prior to July 1, 1990); OR


    (d) A combination of education and experience that is at least the equivalent of (a) or (b) above. Candidates making an application on the basis of equivalency must submit a Supplemental Application for Equivalency Determination in addition to all other required materials.

    Helpful qualifications include:


    - Professional theatre design experience


    - Experience teaching at the Community College level
