    DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW:



    The Department of Computer Science and Engineering is committed to excellence for both majors and non-majors, with an emphasis on transfer to CSU Chico, and UC. Our program prepares students for transfer to Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, and Computer Animation and Game Development programs at four-year institutions, supports Engineering and Mathematics majors, and prepares students for industry certification and careers as computer programmers, network administrators, computer system administrators, and information systems professionals. We work closely with area high schools to create career and transfer pathways for students. We are looking for a team member who is committed to technical currency and has an understanding of and commitment to meeting the needs of both transfer programs to four-year institutions and area industries. The successful applicant will teach all freshman and sophomore-level computer science courses, advise and mentor students, and facilitate the development and growth of the computer science program.
     
    POSITION DUTIES:
    In addition to the responsibilities of the classification description, the specific position is also responsible for:



    • Teaching lecture and laboratory lower-division computer science courses.

    • Maintaining curriculum and program pathways informed by and up to date with transfer institutions.

    • Developing a strong community of computer science students through mentorship and collaborative activities.

    • Developing and assessing student learning outcomes (SLOs), curriculum, certificates, and contributing to program review.

    • Working with support staff to manage laboratory facilities, equipment, and supplies.
