    [b]Maximum Salary:[/b] $123,261.53 annually (maximum entry $87,235.54 per year)

    All coverages begin on the first day of the month following the hire date. Employees are covered under the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS) and are vested 100% after five years of full time service.

    The Kern Community College District provides a maximum contribution of 75% of the existing premium cap to an excellent health and welfare benefits plan. The employee pays 25% of the existing premium cap in addition to their selected plan employee contribution cost.

    The District also provides life insurance plans for the employee, as well as an 8.25% contribution to the State Teachers Retirement plan. Additional types of insurance may be purchased with pre-tax dollars through an IRS 125 flexible benefit program.

    [b]Basic Function:[/b]

    Bakersfield College is seeking dedicated, experienced, and motivated individuals to provide leadership, engagement, and discipline expertise in continuing to move the program forward in innovative ways.
    As a full time faculty member at Bakersfield College, successful candidates must be able to effectively develop and teach a broad spectrum of courses and have depth of knowledge in the discipline.
    This assignment may include teaching courses at various locations, different times, and with different modalities. Bakersfield College offers college courses in the greater Bakersfield area, rural communities, correctional facilities and high schools using the following modalities: traditional, face-to-face, online and interactive broadcasts.
    Other duties include: participation in student recruitment and articulation, transfer programs; maintaining subject matter currency; developing and revising curriculum; using computer and technology; assessment of program learning outcomes; collegial participation in departmental, college and discipline-specific professional activities.

    [b]Education and Experience:[/b]


    Masters in any biological science,
    [b]OR[/b] Bachelors in any biological science

    [b]AND[/b] Masters in Biochemistry, Biophysics, or Marine Science,

    [b]OR[/b] The equivalent. Certain combinations of education, experience, and other accomplishments in the field may be judged as equal to the stated minimum qualifications for these positions.

    Ability to provide leadership within the discipline and college initiatives that support student learning.
    Ability and willingness to work effectively with college committees and co-curricular and extra-curricular activities that support students and the college.
