Job Description

The Public Safety Program at Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC) is seeking a qualified Dispatch Part- Time Instructor to train and educate students on emergency call handling and dispatch procedures. The successful candidate will report to the Director of Public Safety Programs, and will be responsible for teaching courses on dispatching, training new dispatchers, and developing course materials.

Qualifications:
1. 5 years of experience in public safety, criminal justice, or a related field is required.
2. Prior experience in dispatching and training is required.
3. Ability to teach dispatching, emergency call handling, and dispatch procedures courses.
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Strong organizational and time management skills.
6. Ability to work collaboratively with other faculty members and staff.
7. Knowledge of industry trends and best practices in dispatching and public safety.

Responsibilities:
1. Teach courses in dispatching, including emergency call handling and dispatch procedures, as well as other courses in the Public Safety Program as assigned.
2. Develop course materials and update them regularly to ensure they align with industry standards and best practices.
3. Train and supervise students on dispatch procedures in the classroom and hands-on settings.
4. Maintain accurate student records, attendance, and grades in accordance with TMCC policies.
5. Collaborate with other faculty members in the Public Safety Program and participate in department meetings and activities.
6. Stay current with industry trends and advancements through continuing education and professional development opportunities.
7. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Public Safety Programs.

Salary Information: $952 per credit on standard credit courses.

Conditions of Employment

This is an on-going pool of qualified individuals interested in part-time, temporary non-tenure track instructional opportunities at Truckee Meadows Community College.

These opportunities are part-time only and will not be continued beyond the ending date. These opportunities may be terminated at will, at any time, for any reason, without notice; appointee has no appeal rights. Temporary assignments are not eligible for consideration for tenure as part of the assignment.

Employment is contingent upon a successful background examination.
