Student Affairs/Counseling & Student Support Services Division/Santiago Canyon College Tenure Track Position
RSCCD has one of the highest faculty salary schedules among California's 72 community college districts. New faculty may be placed as high as step 11 on the salary schedule based upon verified teaching/work experience. The current starting salary may range from $66,735.64 - $112,871.65/year ($69,405.07 - $117,386.52/year effective July 2020) for the 192 Contract days, depending upon education and experience. Additional compensation is provided for work beyond the basic teaching contract.
The district will contribute up to $30,672.60 per year toward the medical/dental insurance expense for the employee and any eligible dependents, plus $1,750 per year for additional fringe benefit expenses, life insurance coverage of $50,000 or the employee's annual salary, whichever is greater and ten days of sick leave per year. Membership in the California State Teachers' Retirement System.

Counselors provide academic, career and personal counseling by assisting current and prospective students with course and program information, career exploration, educational planning, career selection, and the identification and exploration of personal concerns. They provide assessment opportunities and use the results in helping students with course and program selection. Counselors may teach courses as assigned by the Dean of Counseling. They provide assistance to students on academic probation and assist in the monitoring of student progress with emphasis in helping students to achieve their educational goals. When appropriate, they refer students to other student services programs or community resources. They may participate in staff development and in-service training activities. They perform other duties as assigned.
(Applicants must meet one of the following):
Possess from an accredited institution: A master's degree in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling
psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, or career development, marriage and family therapy, or marriage, family and child counseling, OR bachelor's degree in one of the above listed degrees AND a license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT), OR
Possess a valid California Community College credential authorizing service in the discipline, OR
The equivalent (applicants who do not meet the above minimum qualifications must complete the Equivalencies Section in the
application form and provide conclusive evidence of such).
A working knowledge of and experience with student learning outcomes/service area outcomes and assessment.
Experience providing counseling services in an institution of higher education with a mastery of educational technologies and a
focus on student achievement through an equity lens.
California community college counseling experience highly desirable.

Problem solving skills
Successful teaching, problem solving or performance demonstration

Candidates selected for employment will be required to provide current verification of a negative TB test or chest x-ray, complete the district's fingerprinting process, and bring proof of their legal right to work in the United States.
