DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:
Faculty members teach department courses on a full-time basis and evaluate student performance pursuant to guidelines set by the department and the College. Faculty members report to the Department Chair for their discipline. Faculty members are responsible for preparing lesson plans, teaching aids, and instructional materials or activities for class. Faculty members must maintain accurate records on students and submit pertinent data to the department and/or the College.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:
- Demonstrates appropriate knowledge of subject;
- Provides students with appropriate learning materials and expertise in assigned subject(s);
- Prepares course syllabus and outcomes;
- Encourages student participation;
- Evaluates students’ performance based on course learning outcomes;
- Establishes and maintains an organized and disciplined classroom environment;
- Is responsive to students and provides students with assistance and guidance;
- Responsible for contributing to and maintaining an inclusive and collaborative College environment;
- Adheres to all College, Department as well as applicable County policies;
- Fulfills all duties as required n the FFECC Collective Bargaining Agreement.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Training and supervision of students working with conventional machine tools and/or CNC lathes and milling machines, waterject cutting equipment, etc.;
- Production of machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating CNC machines; maintaining quality and enforcing safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies;
- Planning of machining operations by studying work orders, engineering plans, materials, tooling, and other technical specifications;
- Utilizing CAD/CAM software for specifying and analyzing orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD& T);
- Setting up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting 3 and 4-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, indicating vices; tramming heads, etc.;
- Using coordinate measuring machines and metrology equipment for reverse engineering and inspection of parts and assemblies;
- Installing and debugging controls and instrumentation;
- Serve the College and community;
- Other reasonable duties as assigned.
- Candidates with considerable industrial experience combined with some teaching experience at the industrial and/or the college level will be considered. A minimum of 5+ years industrial experience is required;
- Associates Degree within the Academic Discipline or a closely related field as approved by Human Resources in conjunction with the Academic Unit;
- Ability to supervise student work;
- Ability to provide safety training classes for people using machine tools.
- Journeyman’s Papers in Machining, Tool and Die Making, or Mold Making;
- Bachelor’s Degree plus 30 hours of Advanced Studies in related field.
