Assistant Director, The Learning Center
An Educational Administrator Position
Review Date: October 3, 2018
Under the direction of the Associate Dean of Learning Resources and Director of The Learning Center (TLC), the Assistant Director, The Learning Center, coordinates and supervises the functions of The Learning Center to meet the academic support needs of students. The Assistant Director assists the Director with the development and supervision of faculty, staff, facilities, budget, policies and procedures for these activities. Collaborates with faculty and staff to develop and maintain academic support for students’ writing development. Directs The Learning Center in the absence of the Director. Oversees the operations of The Learning Center at the Canyon Country Campus as well as the Testing Center in all its locations. The Learning Center provides tutoring and assistance for students primarily in the areas of English, Mathematics, ESL and computer-based curriculum. Other subject areas may be added depending on students’ needs on a semester-by-semester basis. The position may include a combination of, department, division, college, and community leadership functions. Assignment may include day, evening, and weekend duties at all District sites and distance learning assignments. Within the scope of this position new responsibilities may be added or deleted based on District and community needs.
Possession of a master’s degree from an accredited college or university, doctorate in educational leadership preferred; (See our website for evaluation requirements for units and degrees earned at foreign institutions)
Two (2) years of full-time experience in a supervisory or managerial position at an institution of higher education reasonably related to the assignment.
