Job Description Summary:
Responsible for preparing and teaching ACC Radio, Television, & Film (RTF) courses in engaging, innovative, and discipline-appropriate ways. This position will teach and coordinate our early PTECH program, working at Eastside Early College High School, mentoring students in our Event Videography certificate, which is stackable into the Streaming TV & Broadcast Production Associate of Applied Science Degree at the ACC Highland Campus Creative Digital Media Center.

Job Description:

Principal Responsibilities and Duties

• Prepare and teach courses in the field of Radio, Television, & Film (RTF) to a multicultural student population based on the department's approved course learning outcomes, utilizing a variety of instructional strategies appropriate to the needs of community college students (co-enrolled high school students taking classes from their high school campus) and the standards of the discipline.
• As a media maker mentor, facilitates student development through a caring and rigorous project-based learning environment, to include projects such as field productions, field trips and community media distribution.
• Applies agile media skill sets to teaching a variety of integrated classes, including those in the Event Videography certificate. Areas of instruction will include media studies, event and narrative production, audio production, lighting, editing, scriptwriting, the business of the industry.
• Works closely and collaboratively with high school leadership, staff, CTE teachers, and ACC Early College staff to coordinate on-site classes and out of class projects, to include with industry/community partners.
• Develops and manages onsite equipment system used at high school, ensuring timely upkeep, inventory, purchasing recommendations and safe usage/training.
• Utilize experience and interest in emerging formats, program development, industry collaborations, cross-departmental collaborations and community media.
• Participate actively in departmental responsibilities and departmental governance, including curriculum review and revision, program review, assessment of student learning outcomes at the course and program level, and other departmental activities.
• Evaluate student progress and provide clear, timely feedback reflecting program learning outcomes and departmental expectations.
• Serve as a mentor to students in the Radio, Television, & Film program.
• Provide teaching and mentoring services to students in a manner which does not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, age, protected veteran status, political affiliation, or other protected categories.
• Remain current in the field through a variety of professional development activities.
• Support division and department goals through active and collegial engagement in decision-making and unit-level planning.
• Serve on collegewide and departmental committees, councils, work groups, and task forces.
• Perform other related tasks as assigned by the department chair, dean, and/or associate vice chancellor, vice chancellor, executive vice chancellor.

Technology

• Demonstrated proficiency using computer applications, online resources, and other technologies for the classroom.
• Demonstrated proficiency using an online learning management system such as Blackboard to develop and build course content and perform administrative duties (posting office hours, syllabi, etc.)
• Technical production expertise and skills as digital storyteller / event videographer, to include Adobe Creative Suite tools for filmmakers and media makers.

Required Education

In accordance with Southern Association of College and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) requirements:

• Master's degree in Radio-Television-Film, or
• Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in Radio-Television-Film.

Required Work Experience

In accordance with Southern Association of College and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) requirements:

• Three (3) years of relevant non-teaching work experience in creative media industries.
