This position is a Full-Time, Tenure-Track, Parkland Academic Employees (PAE) appointment.
Salary is commensurate with experience. 

Tenure-Track Faculty teach a full-time load as per the PAE bargaining agreement.  They advise and mentor students and participate in governance of their departments and the college.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Teach program courses; conduct program evaluation; lead strategic planning; maintain accreditation standards.
  • Perform professional clinical duties in accordance with established policies and procedures of the clinical facility, the Health Professions department, Parkland College, and Illinois state law.
  • Collaborate within the program, department and within the College by participation in divisional meetings, committee service and other activities.
  • Provide classroom instruction in accordance with the stated philosophy, objectives, and established course outlines of the college.
  • Inform students of course regulations, evaluation procedures, and other information pertinent to the course; prepare a course syllabus for each course and distributes it early in each term.
  • Maintain required office hours to ensure availability for student consultation; provides assistance to students in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate scholastic records of students on the learning management system; submit required reports on student progress according to published deadlines.
  • Participate in student recruitment, remediation, and retention efforts.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene, Health related field, or Education.
  • Graduate from a dental hygiene program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation.
  • Current Illinois Dental Hygiene license with current CPR certification.
  • Illinois Certification in local anesthetic and nitrous oxide administration or approved equivalent per the Illinois Board of Dentistry.
  • Five (5) years recent experience as a Dental Hygienist in a clinical setting.
  • Current didactic and clinical teaching experience in an accredited Dental Hygiene program.
  • Membership in the American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA).
  • Must successfully complete a criminal background check with fingerprinting.
