Position Information
Location Highland Campus
Hours 40 hours/week, as assigned, Monday-Friday. Some evenings and/or weekends may be required.
Salary Coordinator 3/120 ($40,494.00 – $57,849.00)
FLSA Status Non-Exempt
Reports To Manager, District Security
Criminal Background Check Pre-employment criminal background checks are required for all Staff and Faculty positions. Pre-employment urinalyses drug screens are also required for all top candidates considered for positions in ACC’s College Police department.

General Statement of Job
Under the direction of the District Security Manager, monitors, implements, maintains, and documents that controls are in place to support security management systems within Austin Community College (ACC) college wide to ensure the protection of personnel and assets from damage and harm.

Description of Duties and Tasks
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Prepares documentation of current systems, changes to configuration items, inventory, tasks and daily service request, etc. to keep accurate records of physical security systems.
Works and coordinates with IT electronic technicians on assigned installations, repairs or diagnostics on security systems.
Tracks service requests and enters all security related items into database.
Performs day-to-day monitoring and administration of security related tasks such as physical access control, logistical access to physical security systems, and keying/locksmith systems and device health checks, and campus communications as needed.
Documents and tracks devices on existing security systems, including devices associated with key, card access, motion detection, intrusion, and camera systems, including location and any other related information.
Conducts campus and district security audits.
Maintains door inventory, inspection and key tracking system(s).
Develops draft security work instructions and procedures for approval.
Performs testing and validation of installations and repairs using a variety of tools for network and power analysis.
Evaluates, diagnoses, troubleshoots systems, and mechanisms that affect ACC security systems.
Performs proactive security device cleaning and maintenance in coordination with IT Physical Security.
Provides end user support and guidance on physical security software, hardware and systems usage, ranging from beginners to expert users.
Performs data entry as required to add monitored points and new configuration items across each system, as needed for security management and control.
Provides support for the Texas School Safety Compliance Audit and compliance.
Coordinates with administration, departments and external groups to resolve security related issues by applying process/management solutions.
Responds to emergency situations during or after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety/security concerns.
Assists other college and external personnel for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities (i.e., coordination with electricians, locksmith, carpenters, and IT electronic technicians, etc.).
Provides end user support and guidance on physical security management systems.
Knowledge
Must possess required knowledge and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed. Working knowledge of project management principles. Working knowledge of information technology and security best practices. Strong working knowledge of equipment as it applies to physical security. Working knowledge of basic security system to assist in communicating with IT. Working knowledge of applied practices for access control systems, video surveillance systems, analytics, electronic personnel protection systems, and intrusion detection systems. Familiarity with local, state, and federal codes as they apply to security and life safety equipment.

Skills
Must possess required skills and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed. Ability to read blueprints, architectural, mechanical, and electrical documents. Ability to conduct research, analysis, audits, and quality assurance in relation to physical security. Ability to track, troubleshoot, document, and resolve end-user and system troubles. Diagnose system-related problems, whether with application, server, network, cabling, or configuration. Maintain an established work schedule, providing on-call assistance, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Strong familiarity with Microsoft Office programs, such as, Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including tact and diplomacy. Effective organization and planning skills including attention to detail and follow-through. Maintaining confidentiality of work-related information and materials. Ability to work independently. Ability to safely drive an ACC vehicle.

Transports a variety of items (e.g., tools, equipment, supplies, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of materials required at job site. Must hold a current valid Texas Driver’s License.
Must have reliable transportation
Technology Skills Use a variety of spreadsheet, word processing, database, and presentation software. Use query and control languages, program, and administer systems and applications.
Required Work Experience
Two years related work experience.
Preferred Work Experience Three or more years of related technical work experience.
Required Education
High school diploma or educational equivalent.
Preferred Education Associate degree or higher in security or information technology related fields.
Special Requirements
Licenses/Certifications; Other Valid Texas Driver’s License and good driving record in order to drive an ACC vehicle. Ability to successfully register and ceritify with CJIS. Must pass criminal background check.
Other Preferred Qualifications Certifications that are highly desirable include Security or other information technology, best practice, framework, or security related certification.
Physical Requirements Work is performed within extreme temperature ranges. Perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, kneeling, standing, and walking significant distances. Work from ladders and scaffolds or at heights above 30 feet. Lifting up to 35 pounds. Ability to safely use hand and power tools. Visual ability (uncorrected or corrected) to observe and detect signs of dangerous obstacles at a distance of 30 yards and to verify written information at a close range. Ability to hear horn and/or warning devices at a distance of 30 yards.

Work safely and follow safety rules. Report unsafe working conditions and behavior. Take reasonable and prudent actions to prevent others from engaging in unsafe practices.

ACC Benefits Overview
Full-time Faculty and Staffing Table employees who work in full-time and/or part-time positions at the College are eligible for ACC medical benefits effective the first of the month after their first 60 days of employment. Benefits include medical, dental, life insurance, short and long term disability, retirement plans and AD&D.

ACC does not participate in Social Security. ACC participates in the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) and the Optional Retirement Program (ORP-Faculty Only). Part-time and Hourly employees participate in the ACC Money Purchase Plan (ACCMPP) as a retirement program required by Federal law.
