Responsibilities and Duties:
Research responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Act as a principal investigator or team leader in delivering research activities
  • Produce research outputs which are at least of national standing and work towards establishing an international profile securing esteem indicators as appropriate.
  • Lead, and promote, a research culture within the University including, as appropriate, the leadership of research projects, the supervision of research staff, and the training or mentoring of less experienced colleagues.
  • Develop the national and international standing and reputation for the research undertaken in the university/College.
  • Lead and participate in professional development to support research
  • Lead other research responsibilities as assigned by the Dean of the College or another person with delegated responsibilities

Enterprise and innovation responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Generate income through commercialization, consultancy and/or professional learning and development programmes
  • Plan, implement and lead commercial activities for the University/ college where appropriate.
  • Lead and participate in enterprise networks, nationally and internationally
  • Lead development and delivery of professional learning and development programmes
  • Lead other enterprise and innovation responsibilities as assigned by the Dean of the College or another person with delegated responsibilities.

Academic Leadership responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Identify, prepare, and lead academic development projects
  • Lead work designed to improve the processes, procedures and systems in the College/University.
  • Undertake external activities nationally or internationally designed to raise the profile of the College/University to potential learners, clients and partners.
  • Take responsibility for the development, review and enhancement of relationships with external partners and professional organizations in OMAN and/or overseas.
  • Represent the College/University to external partners and organizations
  • Take responsibility for devolved staff and resource management including staff development and performance reviews.
  • Lead and participate in professional development to support academic leadership and management.
  • Lead other academic leadership responsibilities as assigned by the Dean of the College or another person with delegated responsibilities.

Teaching & Learning responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead courses or programmes, and take responsibility for curriculum design and development including implementation of new courses, new methods of delivery and new forms of assessment
  • Lead the development of teaching and academic support for students through the use of a wide range of learning resources and appropriate pedagogic practice
  • Take lead responsibility for ensuring that students have an effective learning experience advising and supporting other colleagues as needed.
  • Take responsibility for quality assurance and enhancement, playing a leading role in helping colleagues to reflect critically on their own teaching, to identify and adapt good practices, and thereby to improve teaching quality.
  • Undertake research into teaching, learning, curriculum issues or related policy
  • Develop a national profile for developmental work on learning and teaching through, publications, editorships, prestigious lectures, conference papers, or involvement at senior level in professional bodies focused on the development of pedagogic practice or policy.
  • Lead and participate in professional development to support teaching and learning.
  • Lead other teaching and learning responsibilities as assigned by the Dean of the College or another person with delegated responsibilities.

Requirements
A PhD degree or equivalent in the corresponding specialized area {Civil Engineering , ICEN Engineering }
At least five-year teaching experience
Publications in peer-reviewed journals that are commensurate with research experience.
Experience of conducting research and managing scientific project(s).
Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-partner scientific team.
Some experience of doctoral degree supervision and mentoring.
Some experience of running a teaching program with responsibility for preparation and marking of examinations, or syllabus development.
Ability to work successfully in an international setting
Ability to Speak English Fluently
