This position is an on-campus, full-time, tenure-track appointment based in Champaign, Illinois covered by the Parkland Academic Employees (PAE) collective bargaining unit. Starting salary for 12 months between $48,200.96 - 73,004.53 dependent on certifications, years of teaching experience, and education received.

Tenure-Track Faculty teach a full-time load as per the Parkland Academic Employees (PAE) bargaining agreement. They advise and mentor students and participate in governance of their departments and the college.

Essential Job Functions:
Teaching Functions
- Provide classroom instruction in accordance with the stated philosophy, objectives, and established course outlines of the college and conduct program evaluation.
- Perform professional clinical duties in accordance with established policies and procedures of the clinical faculty, the Health Professions Division, Parkland College, and Illinois state law.
- Maintain all professional credentials required to teach in area of discipline; meet essential qualifications to teach lecture, lab, and clinical in the discipline.
- Inform students of course regulations, evaluation procedures, and other information pertinent to the course; prepare a course syllabus for each course and post with other course information on the college’s Learning Management System (LMS) by date set by the College.
Clinical Course Functions
- Coordinate all clinical facilities; complete course paperwork required by the clinical units and provide necessary information to the Faculty Chair Nursing Programs in a timely manner to assure clinical spaces are reserved.
- Determine and communicate clinical start dates and coordinate lecture-lab-clinical topics.
- Coordinate all clinical communication between course faculty and the clinical units; assure completion of clinical orientation for new faculty.
- Assist the Faculty Chair Nursing Programs in evaluating clinical faculty and make recommendations to the Faculty Chair Nursing Programs regarding Part-Time Faculty and other personnel matters.
- Assure that all clinical requirements are met, and the College is in compliance with clinical units.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean or Faculty Chairs
Minimum Requirements:
- Master’s degree in nursing.
- Current registered nurse licensure.
- Five (5) years of clinical and/or teaching experience in nursing.
- Must meet all clinical requirements including successfully completing a post offer, pre-employment clinical drug test.
- Background in nursing across the continuum of care.
- Knowledgeable concerning national curricula, national accreditation, national registration, and requirements for state certification and licensure.
- Is current in all professional credentials required to teach in area of discipline; meet essential qualifications to teach lecture, lab, and clinical in the discipline.
- Good written and verbal communication skills and ability to engage professionally with a diverse population of faculty, staff, students, and other members of the campus community.
- Ability to learn the Parkland information system and new programs as technology changes.
- Prospective new hires will successfully complete a post offer, pre-employment criminal background check. The background check review includes, but is not limited to, exclusionary offenses per the Illinois School Code and Title IV of the Higher Education Act, and nationwide healthcare fraud and abuse scan.
- In an effort to comply with SURS return-to-work restrictions for employers (40 ILCS 5/15-139.5), candidates for employment at Parkland College must either not be a SURS annuitant or must be willing to suspend his/her SURS annuity upon employment. This applies to all SURS annuitants except those receiving their annuity under either the Self-Managed Plan (SMP) or by lump sum payment.
