The Santa Clarita Community College District/College of the Canyons is seeking a full time Assistant Superintendent/Vice President, Student Services. The ideal candidate is a leader possessing a strong grounding in academic and student services programs and a thorough understanding of the primary mission of the community college, as well as supporting our college’s commitment to educating the more than 32,000 racially and socioeconomically diverse students we enroll each year. "BIG PICTURE" RESPONSIBILITY:
Under administrative direction of the Chief Executive Officer, the Assistant Superintendent /Vice President, Student Services / is responsible for planning, designing, organizing, implementing, and managing District-wide student services programs and services that are welcoming, efficient, and promote student success. This position provides leadership to the District Pathways efforts, student equity efforts, and endeavors that enhance the lives of our students.
The Assistant Superintendent/Vice President, Student Services is expected to provide strategic direction and oversight for a wide-range of programs, activities and services within the Division of Student Services. Such services are expected to support and promote the personal and intellectual development of students, enhance student retention and persistence and enhance the overall academic community. This Assistant Superintendent/Vice President is expected to be aware of emergent circumstances, both within the campus and in the community, and to design programs and responses that are flexible and effective. It is expected that the Assistant Superintendent/Vice President will initiate programs and partnerships that integrate academic, civic, and community life, interpreting and responding to student concerns, as well as representing students to the campus and Santa Clarita communities.

1. Possession of a master’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university. Doctorate or Ph.D. in educational leadership preferred. (See our website for evaluation requirements for units and degrees earned at foreign institutions); and
2. A minimum of four (4) years of increasingly responsible experience as an upper-level administrator, managing Student Services programs at a community college or other institution of higher education. Upper-level administrative experience equivalent to a Community College District or University level Dean over multiple departments, divisions, and functions, Provost, Associate Vice President, or higher level position.
