General Statement

The Head Women's Basketball head Coach, under the direction of the Director of Athletics, assumes all the responsibilities of coaching the sport of Basketball. The responsibilities are grounded on the principle of student first, athlete second. The Coach is responsible for teaching the student/athlete how to be a good person. The vehicle is Basketball.

Requires an Associate degree or related discipline. Interested applicants who may not meet the qualifications as stated above are encouraged to put in writing precisely how their background and experience have prepared them for the responsibilities of this position.

Supervision Received:

The Head Women's Basketball Coach reports to the Director of Athletics.

Supervision Exercised:

The Head Women's Basketball Coach supervises the Assistant Coaches and the student/athletes who are involved in the Women's Basketball Program.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Recruiting student/athletes to attend Quinsigamond Community College by working with High School Athletic Programs in conjunction with our Admissions Office.

2. Actively enhancing a positive image of Quinsigamond Community College.

3. Informing student/athletes on the aims, purposes, and values of the Volleyball Program.

4. Acquainting the student with the NJCAA, MCCAC, and NCAA rules that govern the sport.

5. Offering academic guidance and assistance to student/athletes throughout the students' career at Quinsigamond Community College.

6. Using sound and ethical teaching techniques in preparation for games and practices.

7. Assisting in placing student/athletes into four-year colleges after their Quinsigamond Community College career.

8. Conducting all activities within the rules and regulations of Quinsigamond Community College, the Massachusetts Community College Athletic

Conference, and the National Junior College Athletic Association.

9. Maintaining professional conduct with team members and Assistant Coaches in practice and games.

10. Preparing, organizing and supervising all practice and game situations.

11. Monitoring the annual budget for the Basketball program.

12. Input data from the week's game into an online data base.

13. Actively supporting the teaching and learning process; working to create and support a student centered environment.

14. Working actively with other areas of the College to ensure a spirit of college-wide collaboration, collegiality, civility and teamwork.

15. Embracing and supporting the principle that "diversity is everybody's business" through the daily performance of duties and responsibilities.

16. Providing flexible, responsive and high quality customer service to all whom we serve, be they students, community or staff, and continuously assessing processes and procedures to revise accordingly.

17. Performing other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications

1. Associates degree or appropriate community college coaching experience

2. Excellent communications skills

3. Valid state driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

  1. College playing experience.
  2. Bachelor Degree.
  3. Experience in care and prevention of athletic injuries.
  4. Fundraising experience.
  5. Data Input experience.
