    About Us

    Truckee Meadows Community College is the "jobs college" for Northern Nevada currently serving over 11,000 students. The college is a Hispanic Serving Institution with 35% of students identifying as Hispanic. Many students are first in their families to go to college and are receiving financial aid. The college prides itself on providing numerous scholarship opportunities to remove barriers to access for the diverse community we serve. The college has five academic divisions, including the Division of Technical Sciences, in which the advanced manufacturing department and this position are housed.

    The department provides workforce training through short term skills certificates, two 30-credit certificates of achievement, an Associates of Applied Sciences in Automation and Robotics and apprenticeships. Our programs are aligned with industry needs and certifications including National Coalition of Certification Centers (NC3) and the Smart Automation Certification Alliance (SACA).

    The Opportunity

Want to work with local companies, large and small, to train their new and incumbent workers? Then this tenure-track position at Truckee Meadows Community College is for you! We are seeking a student-centered, enthusiastic, creative, diligent, team player to teach college courses in mechanical, electrical, pneumatics, programming, automation and robotics. The majority of courses are taught in the lab at our William N. Pennington Center of Applied Technology at 475 Edison Way, with additional courses taught at the new PENA Advanced Manufacturing Training Center at 645 Plumb Lane. We also offer online courses. We are seeking applicants from all backgrounds and life experiences and looking for transferable skills sets that are applicable to this role.     Minimum Qualifications

    1. Associates Degree in Advanced Manufacturing, Industrial Technology or closely related field from an accredited institution. *

    2. Six months working in an advanced manufacturing training or industrial environment.

    3. Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers

    4. Familiarity with industrial robots

    *Degree may be substituted with equivalent academic preparation/certification and an additional two years of professional experience.


    Preferred Qualifications

    1. Bachelor's degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution in Industrial Systems, Advanced Manufacturing, Robotics or closely related technical field from an accredited institution.

    2. Two (2) years of teaching experience in industrial technologies, or closely related fields at the secondary or post-secondary level or training experience in a related environment.

    3. Professional experience in manufacturing, or related technical fields.

    4. Experience with industrial measuring equipment.

    5. Experience with a learning management system and/ or online learning.


    Academic Responsibilities

    Candidates must exhibit an appreciation of, a sensitivity to, and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological and ethnic backgrounds. Teaching and workload assignments are scheduled throughout the calendar year, and may require evening and weekend obligations at one or more college locations.



    • Teach a minimum of 30 (15/15) credit or contact hours during the academic year, August through May, in various modalities as assigned, including in-person, hybrid, online, live-virtual (hy-flex), and at high-school sites (Jump-Start dual credit), per the needs of the program and at the Edison campus or alternate sites.

    • Demonstrate awareness of diversity, equity, and inclusion issues. Maintain sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, as well as disabilities, of students, faculty, and staff.

    • Support student learning outcomes assessment processes by teaching toward approved student learning outcomes and assessing student performance.

    • Assist with curriculum and program review, revision, and assessment. Aid in the development of new course materials and innovative instructional techniques that improve student learning.

    • Work closely with department peers and administrators to become an effective teacher and contributing member of the academic unit.

    • Maintain and set up the equipment for assigned lab classes; promptly report any broken equipment to the administration.

    • Mentor new part-time faculty.

    • Participate in department activities such as advisory boards, industry partner visits, program review, inventory, and outreach events.

    • Attend and actively participate in College events, department and division meetings, college or Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) committees, and community service activities.

    • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current in field knowledge and pedagogies that expand breadth and depth of understanding in the discipline.

    • Complete training outlined in TMCC's Faculty Standards of Online Instruction, when and as needed.

    • Hold 5 office hours per week.

    • Participate in student advising, recruitment, and retention efforts.

    • Travel occasionally to community and workforce sites, conferences, events, and so on, per the needs of the program.

    • Communicate and interact in a professional, timely and collegial manner with faculty, students, staff, and administration.

    • Comply with departmental administrative responsibilities and published college and NSHE policies and procedures.

    • Uphold the Mission, Vision, and Values of TMCC and perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with them.

    • Adhere to the published codes of NSHE as detailed in the Board of Regents Handbook.

    • Adhere to the Code of Ethical Standards of the State of Nevada (Nevada Revised Statutes 281A.400-281A.480).

    • Other duties as assigned.



    Salary and Benefits Information

    Salary: This position is a 9-month role, totaling 172 working days per year. The salaries listed below are based on this schedule, paid over 12 months:

    Initial salary placement will be dependent on education level and years of experience:

    Less than Bachelor's: $54,180 - $65,016

    Bachelor's: $63,987 - $76,784

    Master's: $67,097 - $80,516

    Master's + 30: $70,207 - $84,248

    Ph.D: $76,066 - $91,279
