    General Statement

    The Head Basketball Coach, under the direction of the Director of Athletics, assumes all the responsibilities of coaching the sport of basketball. The responsibilities are grounded on the principle of student first, athlete second. The Coach is responsible for teaching the student/athlete how to be a good person. The vehicle is basketball

    Supervision Received

    The Head Basketball Coach reports directly to the Director of Athletics & Fitness Center.

    Supervision Exercised

    The Head Basketball Coach supervises the Assistant Coaches and the student/athletes who are involved in the Basketball Program.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Requires an Associate degree or related discipline. Interested applicants who may not meet the qualifications as stated above are encouraged to put in writing precisely how their background and experience have prepared them for the responsibilities of this position.

    Duties and Responsibilities:



    • Recruit student/athletes to attend Quinsigamond Community College by working with High School Athletic Programs in conjunction with our Admissions Office.

    • Actively enhance a positive image of Quinsigamond Community College.

    • Inform student/athletes on the aims, purposes, and values of the Basketball Program.

    • Acquaint the student with the NJCAA, MCCAC, and NCAA rules that govern the sport.

    • Offer academic guidance and assistance to student/athletes throughout the students' career at Quinsigamond Community College.

    • Use sound and ethical teaching techniques in preparation for games and practices.

    • Assist in placing student/athletes into four-year colleges after their Quinsigamond Community College career.

    • Conduct all activities within the rules and regulations of Quinsigamond Community College, the Massachusetts Community College Athletic Conference, and the National Junior College Athletic Association.

    • Maintain professional conduct with team members and Assistant Coaches in practice and games.

    • Prepare, organize and supervise all practice and game situations.

    • Monitor the annual budget for the Basketball Program.

    • Work actively with other areas of the college to ensure a spirit of college wide, and teamwork.

    • Recruiting student athletes on and off campus.

    • Perform other duties as assigned




    Job Requirements:
    Minimum Qualifications



    • Associates degree or appropriate community College coaching experience.

    • Excellent communication skills.

    • Valid state driver's license.




    Preferred Qualifications



    • College playing experience

    • Bachelor Degree

    • Experience in care and prevention of athletic injuries

    • Fundraising experience

    • Data Input experience

    • CPR/AED and First Aid Certification
