    General Statement

    This position facilitates learning for students enrolled in any of the English courses. The ideal candidate will possess a combination of strong commitment to student success, equity in college English education, and academic experience.

    The full-time workload for this position may take place in Worcester, Southbridge, or any another QCC instructional location.

    Supervision Received

    Reports to the Dean of the School of English and Humanities.

    Supervision Exercised

    The full-time faculty member exercises supervision over personnel assigned to them.

    Duties and Responsibilities



    • Teach a range of English courses including developmental English, College Composition, Writing, and Literature.

    • Provide classroom, laboratory and/or team-teaching instruction and facilitate individualized and non-traditional approaches to learning as appropriate.

    • Develop and/or revise instructional materials with other faculty members.

    • Develop and apply instructional methods that engage students of varying learning styles and abilities.

    • Develop and apply assessment strategies that maximize the learning process and measure student learning outcomes.

    • Actively participate in ongoing curriculum & program review.

    • Conduct academic advising and assistance of students.

    • Participate in college service activities in concert with the provisions of the MCCC Agreement.

    • Perform other duties as assigned.



    Job Requirements:
    Minimum Qualifications



    • Master's degree in English or related discipline.

    • Experience teaching English at the college level.


    Preferred Qualifications



    • At least three years of successful college-level teaching, with emphasis on Composition and Developmental English, preferably in a community college setting.

    • Demonstrated experience in curriculum design, course development, and assessment.

    • Evidence of innovative instructional approaches, such as interdisciplinary collaboration or service learning.

    • Clear understanding of the mission of community colleges and the diverse populations they serve.

    • Commitment to fostering equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive teaching practices.

    • Ability to integrate instructional technology into teaching and learning.

    • Flexibility, adaptability, and strong collaboration skills in dynamic academic environments.

    • Demonstrated dedication to student success and continuous improvement in teaching practice.

    • Experience teaching reading and writing strategies to support student success across multiple academic levels.
