    General Description



    The Workforce Development unit at the Community College of Philadelphia seeks part-time instructors with expertise in lean startup methodologies to support training designed for aspiring entrepreneurs, small business owners, and community innovators. Ideal candidates will bring strong, hands-on experience in areas such as customer discovery, business model design, MVP development, and iterative product/market testing, along with a proven ability to deliver engaging, practical, and industry-aligned instruction. These noncredit courses and workshops prepare students and community members to transform ideas into validated business models and scalable ventures using lean startup practices. Classes may be offered during daytime and/or evening hours at the Community College of Philadelphia or at partner and community locations throughout the Philadelphia region.


    Workforce Development provides noncredit education to businesses, organizations, and individuals wishing to enhance their skills and meet professional goals. We offer a comprehensive menu of high-quality continuing education and career-training programs delivered by expert faculty and staff.

    Teaching faculty are an integral part of the larger Academic and Student Success Division at CCP including Workforce Development or Career Training. The Academic and Student Success Division is a community of learners committed to student success as demonstrated through equitable and measurable outcomes, innovative practices, relevant curriculum, quality learning, and a rewarding student experience.     Specific Responsibilities

    • Instruction: Teach non-credit and credit-aligned courses / modules that focus on lean startup frameworks: customer discovery, hypothesis testing, MVP development, business model canvas, pivoting, growth strategies.

    • Applied Projects: Guide participants through real-world, hands-on lean startup projects (e.g. interviewing customers, building prototypes, iterating).

    • Curriculum Development: Assist in designing or updating curricula, case studies, workshop modules, and assignments that reflect current lean startup practices.

    • Assessment & Feedback: Evaluate learner progress through defined metrics, deliver meaningful feedback, and track learning outcomes over time.

    • Technology & Tools: Leverage tools such as business modeling software, prototyping platforms, no-code tools, analytics, and collaboration tools.

    • Collaboration: Work with CCP’s WD team and internal departments to align the curriculum with employer/industry needs, incorporate guest speakers, and integrate capstone experiences.

    • Inclusive Teaching: Cultivate an inclusive learning environment, responsive to diverse backgrounds and learning styles.

    • Continuous Improvement: Stay current with lean startup methodologies, share innovations with colleagues, recommend improvements to course content.


    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Entrepreneurship, Innovation, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).

    • At least 3 years of entrepreneurial experience / small business startup experience, including hands-on application of lean startup methods (customer discovery, MVPs, pivots).

    • Prior venture experience, including developing and operating at least one startup or small business.

    • At least 1 year of teaching, training, or mentoring in entrepreneurship, innovation, or applied business settings.

    • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

    • Demonstrated ability to teach using technology (in-person, hybrid, or online).


    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience teaching at the community college level.

    • Prior involvement in incubators, accelerators, or startup mentorship programs.

    • Experience with curriculum design, case-based teaching, or workshop facilitation.

    • Familiarity with non-credit / workforce development settings.

    • Experience engaging diverse student populations and promoting equity in entrepreneurship education.

    • Bilingual or multilingual capabilities.
