General Statement of Job

To direct the planning, development, operations, and evaluation of Austin Community College (ACC) faculty and instructional development programs in support of teaching and learning including instructional design, faculty development programs, faculty evaluation, and the Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning. Works with college administration, departments, and offices to ensure student, faculty, and staff support services related to these areas are available, accessible, and appropriate.

Description of Duties and Tasks

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Provides overall leadership and has collegewide responsibility for establishing and managing a teaching, learning, and working environment for all college faculty and instructional development operations, services, and resources.
  2. Supervises, trains, coaches, directs, coordinates, and disciplines assigned personnel while adhering to organizational human resource policies and procedures as well as related employment laws. Recommends hire and termination personnel actions for positions supervised.
  3. Represents the college in local, state, regional, and national faculty and instructional development organizations and initiatives to advance the interests of the college as assigned.
  4. Ensures effective organizational structure, including allocation of staff, funding, and formulation of decision-making groups and committees.
  5. Maintains effective internal and external communication processes that provide stakeholders with clear, timely, and relevant information.
  6. Provides leadership in long-term strategic planning with clear and measurable goals and outcomes for faculty and instructional development operations.
  7. Develops and maintains a comprehensive yearly plan for faculty and instructional development including goals for the unit's leadership team.
  8. Identifies and researches emerging, innovative, and research-based practices and technologies in faculty and instructional development, and evaluates the relevance and benefit to the college.
  9. Maintains records and statistical data on faculty and instructional development functions and services and reports appropriate information to ACC administration and, as required, local, state, and federal agencies.
  10. Leads financial planning and budget management for activities of the office, and appropriate stakeholder input in budget planning.
  11. Develops and oversees the implementation of faculty and instructional development support services.
  12. Maintains administrative oversight of the college website for faculty and instructional development services and programs.
  13. Serves on the division leadership team and other collegewide administration work groups, committees, task forces, or project teams as needed or assigned.
  14. Co-chairs the Faculty Development and Evaluation Committee.
  15. Serves as liaison between the college and vendors that provide services or resources for faculty and instructional development.
  16. Works with appropriate departments to ensure office services, resources, and technologies are accessible.
  17. Works with appropriate departments to ensure licensing and copyright requirements for resources used by faculty and instructional development are met.
